Today's Word
Word of the Day: God has open arms, God wants to forgive you.
God wants to forgive you! Perhaps you're feeling distant, far from God, because you've done something wrong and your conscience weighs heavily on you.
20 So he got up and went to his father.
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.
This story of The Prodigal (or 'Lost') Son shows how much God loves and forgives us. In the story, a young man asks his dad for his share of the money which he then goes and spends foolishly. When he has nothing left, he returns home, feeling truly sorry. Although he anticipates working for his dad what happens is that his dad welcomes him back with open arms and throws a big party.
No matter how far we wander from Him, or how many mistakes we make, God is always ready to forgive us when we decide to come back to Him. God is filled with compassion. God runs out to us, hugs us, and shows us His endless love and mercy.
It's true, sin is a trap that sometimes catches us in stubbornness and pride. But do you want to return to God's arms? The truth is, He is eager to forgive you! Just approach God knowing that you have done wrong - knowing, like the prodigal son, that you are ' no longer worthy to be called [...] son', - and God's grace will sustain you. Or, as it says in the Methodist Holy Communion Service: "Lord, we come to your table, trusting in your mercy and not in any goodness of our own. We are not worthy even to gather up the crumbs under your table, but it is your nature always to have mercy, and on that we depend."
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
He is faithful and He is just. He will forgive you. Don't wait any longer! Are you ready to depend on Him?

Day Before Yesterday's Word
Word of the Day: 3 essential things in a Christian's life
There are 3 essential things that we all need: faith, love, and humility. Faith gives us the assurance of salvation and brings us closer to God. Love makes us live according to God's will, loving Him and others. Humility teaches us to be less selfish and to give glory to whom it's due: Jesus.
Having faith in God is the first step to draw near to Him, and this faith guides us to seek to live according to His will at all times.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Hebrews 11:6
When God's love touches our hearts, our entire being is transformed. His love fills us and helps us to live following His great example of love and giving importance to what He considers important.
"“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.
John 15:9-10
Humility can be a great challenge in the society we live in. However, humility is not optional: it is a distinctive mark of those who want to live in obedience to God, imitating Jesus Christ's attitude. By being humble, we show that Jesus is the King of our hearts.
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death -
even death on a cross!Philippians 2:5-8
Do not forget your spiritual needs, every day, put on the Armor of God!
