Word of the Day: Receive a gift from God!
5 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Romans 5:1-5
Do you like receiving gifts? God is generous and likes to give us good things. He offers us many gifts, in the passage above we see some of the gifts he offers us:
- Through the action of Jesus, we have been reunited with God: this relationship we can have with God is a source of peace.
- Through the struggles and challenges we may face, we are given perseverance. Perseverance is character-building and ultimately provides us with the gift of hope. We have hope because of God's perfect plan!
- Love has been poured into our hearts because of the gift of The Holy Spirit
- All of this should be a source of Joy to us. We can rejoice since we are a part of God's perfect plan.
But the greatest gift of all is Jesus. Through Jesus, we receive salvation, eternal life, and God's constant presence in our lives.

Word of the Day: Prayers of Worship
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Matthew 6:9-10
One type of prayer we can offer to God is prayers of worship or adoration. Worshiping God involves adoring Him and dedicating ourselves to Him, choosing to do His will every day. By worshiping God, we acknowledge His greatness and lordship, we lift up His name, and open our hearts to Him. In praying in worship, our focus is on God, not on ourselves.
The Bible calls us to worship God with all our hearts, not just in words, but in spirit and truth.
23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
John 4:23-24
Praying in worship to God requires us to examine our hearts and our entire being more closely. How can I please God more? How can I draw closer to Him and His will for my life?
Pray every day, putting God first in your life, acknowledging His love and all He has done for you. Express your desire to live in obedience and inquire how you can do His will. Pray and worship the One who deserves it, the Lord God and Savior who loves you so much.

Day Before Yesterday's Word
Word of the Day: God turns the storm into a gentle breeze
Have you ever found yourself on a boat in the middle of a storm? It's a terrible feeling of helplessness. You don't know what to do and you can't find a place to escape. Wherever you go, the boat moves and it's hard to stand. All that's left is to wait for the calm to come.
28 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
and he brought them out of their distress.
29 He stilled the storm to a whisper;
the waves of the sea were hushed.
Psalm 107:28-29
Throughout our lives, we go through many storms. Some are small, like missing someone you love who has moved to another city. Others are big storms that trigger fear and a great sense of helplessness. Cry out to the Lord in these moments! He hasn't forgotten about you. Trust, and persevere in Him, and you will see how He comes to your aid, turning the storm into a gentle breeze.
We should remember that Jesus encountered a very real storm in The New Testament:
38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
Mark 4:38-40
This story of Jesus calming the storm is a reminder that when we face trials and challenges we should place our trust in Jesus and persevere in our faith. When we do this we will find sufficient peace and strength to overcome even the tallest obstacles. Just as Jesus calmed the storm for his disciples, he will come to our aid, bringing calmness and reassurance to our lives when we trust in him with all our hearts.
