Today's Word

Word of the Day: Flee temptation!

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Matthew 26:41

Among his many works, C.S. Lewis wrote an interesting book titled The Screwtape Letters. In it, our attention is drawn to the many and varied schemes of the Devil in tempting God's children. At one point Screwtape, a demon, writes to his nephew, 'Junior Temper' Wormwood: "I have great hopes that we shall learn in due time how to emotionalize and mythologize their science to such an extent that what is, in effect, a belief in us (though not under that name) will creep in while the human mind remains closed to belief in the Enemy."

We must not forget that the Enemy of God is cunning, hates us, and wants to destroy us. He will constantly navigate us towards sin in creative and ingenious ways. That's where the danger lies...

That's why it's so important not to let our guard down! Evaluate your own life, and notice which areas are more inclined to give in to sin. Watch over them and pray, calling upon the Lord for help!

When temptation is strong, the Bible's advice is to flee. Recognizing your weakness and getting out of a dangerous situation is not a reason for shame - it's evidence of being wise. This is especially true for sexual temptation and other very strong temptations. Avoid situations where you know you will be tempted. Submit to God; He will help you overcome your struggle against sin.

Flee from the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

- 2 Timothy 2:22

Word of the Day: What does it mean to be holy?

Jesus Christ set us apart to be holy. But what does that mean? Holiness means being set apart for God. It characterizes a life of total dedication to God, rejecting sin. Those who are holy seek to be more like Jesus. And this is reflected in our daily life, in how we act and how we relate to people.

15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

1 Peter 1:15-16

To be holy is to live for God. It's not about thinking you're better or more "righteous" than other people. But it's about inner transformation, of the mind and character that the Holy Spirit works in the life of those who believe in Jesus Christ. This involves living outside the world's standards, not doing what is considered "normal" for most people. Remember that light cannot mix with darkness.

We need to live according to God's model, given in Jesus Christ.

Christians are daily called to live in holiness, but that doesn't mean we are already perfect. The Holy Spirit of God has already begun His work in us, but we are still unfinished...

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

2 Corinthians 7:1

Live every moment of your day being conscious of God's eternal Holiness and Glory. This will help you make pure choices, at every step, seeking to live pleasing to Him.

Day Before Yesterday's Word

Word of the day: God has great plans for you!

God has great things prepared for you! He promises an abundant and full life in Jesus. God has dreams and surprises to give you. He wants to give you a future full of hope, with the reward of eternal life in the end!

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

Jeremiah 29:11 speaks to us about the plans God has for each of us. He assures us that God knows us deeply and has special plans for our lives. These plans are full of hope, prosperity, and a bright future.

God is like a loving Father who desires the best for His children. He doesn't want to hurt us but to bless us. He invites us to trust in His guidance and purpose, knowing that He has cared for us from the beginning. Even when we face difficulties or uncertainties, we can find comfort in the certainty that God is in control.

These words remind us that we are loved and valuable to God. He invites us to walk with Him, trusting in His plans and relying on His faithfulness. When we draw near to God and seek His will, we can find true peace and joy, knowing that our future is secure in His loving hands. Therefore, let's remember that God has plans of goodness and grace for us, and we can face the future with hope and confidence in Him.
