Today's Devotional

Freedom vs. Libertarianism

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
Galatians 5:13

When we accept Christ, we free ourselves from the oppressive shackles of sin. There's nothing better than feeling free and recognizing the price that was paid for our freedom: the blood of Jesus. Our freedom is the fruit of God's love for us!

To stay free, you need to remember the price of Salvation and be aware of the Devil's traps. Even Jesus was tempted by Satan to use his freedom to disobey the Father. Our freedom must bring us closer to God, not push us away as happened with the Devil.

Remaining obedient to God's Word is the secret to staying free from sin. Freedom is not about "walking wherever you want" but knowing that there are places where we can lose our freedom. One of the Devil's main traps is to induce our freedom into libertinism.

Libertinism is the misuse of freedom. When we extrapolate our freedom, we give way to the desires of the flesh. The result of this lack of self-control is falling into sin. When our actions lead us away from God, it is a sign that we have already lost our freedom and are falling into the trap of debauchery.

So always keep God's word as your "GPS" and use your freedom to dedicate yourself even more to God!

Be free!

  • Use your freedom to seek God. Praise him, worship him!
  • Our freedom came at a high price. Read the Gospel and learn more about Jesus.
  • Use your freedom to set other people free. Proclaim the Good News of the Lord, share the Word that sets man free from sin.
  • Read God's Word and be aware of the pitfalls of licentiousness.

Pray:

Lord Jesus, how good it is to be free to worship you! Thank you so much for everything you've done for me, your blood has reached me. I want to remain free to praise You and proclaim Your Word that sets me free. In Jesus' name, amen!

Obedience resulting from love

This is what love for God consists of: obeying his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.

1 John 5:3

How challenging it can be for parents of a newborn to tend to all the needs and demands of their little one! For those who haven't experienced parenthood yet, they might envision the array of tasks: from waking up in the dead of night to changing diapers, breastfeeding, bathing, bottle-feeding, preparing baby food, lulling them to sleep, soothing colic with massages, offering comfort, and so much more... and doing it all over and over again. But certainly, following this journey is not burdensome for parents. It is a tiring challenge, but it is totally rewarding and exciting. And why? Because they love their little baby...

Likewise, if we love God, His commandments aren't burdensome to us. Following them isn't stressful because of our love for the Lord. Jesus once told His disciples that they would be His friends if they did what He commanded (John 15:14). Obedience is the primary proof that we love the Lord. When we fulfill His commandments, we reveal that we truly love Him. The most wonderful thing is that this obedience does not harm us. On the contrary, it is beneficial for us and yields peace and comfort in our hearts.

Love and obey God more!

  • Pray to God and thank Him for the lightness and grace of His commandments.
  • Reflect for a moment: Do you love God? Have you been obeying His commandments?
  • Before you obey, you need to understand and have faith. Make it a habit to read and listen to sermons from the Holy Bible every day.
  • Ask God to help you learn and obey His commandments.
  • Instead of just hearing, try doing what God says. It's all about loving Jesus and loving others.
  • Has something been weighing you down? Read Matthew 11:25–30. Share your burden with Jesus. Share God's love with those around you.

Let’s Pray:

My gracious God, I'm grateful that You don't overwhelm us with burdens beyond our capacity. Instead, Your commandments are straightforward and genuine. Guide me to follow them daily, openly, and confidently. I'm thankful because You loved me first and showed me how to love sincerely and faithfully. May my love for You, God, shine through in everything I do, in my faith, and in how I obey Your teachings. In Jesus' name, Amen!

Day Before Yesterday's Devotional

God is always there!

"God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble."
Psalm 46:1

In times of adversity, our faith is put to the test, how we respond shows where we place our strength and refuge. The Bible is full of faithful people who faced adversity, such as Jeremiah (the 'weeping prophet') and Job, the trials they faced pushed them out of their comfort zone to a place where all their feelings and resources were at their absolute limit. In moments of anguish such as these, it is all too easy to lose clarity and direction. With God as your refuge, you can cope with even the most extreme anguish.

God is always with us, in good times and bad. He never abandons us! The feeling of fear may arise but we should never forget that He is always with us. Cry out to God in prayer, and ask for His provision.

We can also find refuge in His Word (Psalm 119:114, "You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word."). The Bible is a great relief in times of adversity. God is faithful to keep all his promises, so stand firm and trust in the Lord!

He is there!

  • God is always present. Seek his presence in prayer.
  • The Holy Spirit comforts us and gives us direction.
  • Seek refuge in God's Word. The Bible is a great way to reconnect with God.

Pray:

Lord, I know that in the midst of difficulties you are with me. Keep me according to Your Word and guide me towards Your promises. I trust in you and know that you are with me always! Amen

What is the Daily Devotional

The Daily Devotional is a special moment of your day that you dedicate to having a precious time of intimacy with God. It is very simple to establish an exciting routine of discovery and spiritual growth. You will achieve this by setting aside a moment each day to draw near to the Lord. During the Devotional, you will read a Bible verse with a meditation on the text. Then, you will meditate on the teachings and how to apply them in your life. In the end, you can pray.

How to do your Daily Devotional

Here are some tips for making the most of reading the Bible message during the Daily Devotional:

  1. Set aside a moment and choose a specific place: your devotional time will be more beneficial if you set aside the hustle and bustle and invest in a pleasant time alone with God.
  2. Read the verse or Bible passage attentively: develop a lifestyle committed to the Word of God every day and avoid distractions.
  3. Read the daily meditation: reflect and try to understand God's purpose for your life through the comments.
  4. Practical application: jot down your findings and don't forget to put into practice everything you have learned through the Bible.
  5. Share what you learned: try to share with people around what God has been teaching you in your moments of daily devotion as you go about your daily conversations and interactions.

Don't forget the importance of living a life fully committed to the Word of God!
