Today's Devotional
Woe betide those who make us stumble!
"5 And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.
Causing to Stumble
6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea."
- Matthew 18:5-6
There is a very clear concern in the New Testament, one that is present in all the books and is the subject of warnings, alerts and entire letters. False teachers, that's was a major concern for those who wrote the scriptures. But what are False Teachers? Sometimes they are simply very well-meaning people trying to come up with good ideas, but who unfortunately deviate from what the Bible teaches.
There is one truth, one gospel. The apostle Paul was angry with the Galatians for so quickly being deceived into believing a gospel other than the one that had been preached. It's so important that we hold fast to what has been preached to you: the one gospel, that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, he died for our sins and rose again on the third day. He is at the side of God the Father and will return to rule.
Cling to the truth
- Do you know the truth of the gospel? Have faith that these things happened
- Do you believe in the gospel? Have faith that everything happened for these reasons
- Share the gospel! Salvation is offered to everyone, pass the message of salvation forward.
Pray:
Lord, I thank you with all my heart for the gospel of salvation. I believe, my Father, in this gospel message of Jesus Christ and I cling to it with fear and reverence. I ask that your Holy Spirit will enlighten my mind and help me to recognise and know sound doctrine. I ask this in Jesus' name, amen!
Yesterday's Devotional
God is the strength of your heart!
"My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever."Psalm 73:26
By accepting our limitations, we recognize everything God has done for us. When we understand that everything comes from the Lord, we realize how much he cares.
Recognizing our weakness is not an excuse for sinning, but a reason to pursue God even more. When we don't recognize God's power, we have this false impression that we conquer all things with the strength of our two arms, when everything we receive is through the Father's grace.
God's grace gave the inheritance of Salvation and no amount of effort could repay the price paid on the cross. The strength of our arm is limited, but the strength that comes from God propels us to accomplish great things!
With God, we do more!
-
Recognize your limitations, and respect yourself. Understand that everything good comes from God.
-
Seek strength in the Word of God. It is effective in cooling our souls and invigorating our strength.
-
Don't feel weak, your strength comes from God. Seek the source, pray.
Pray:
Lord, you are my strength. When I feel weak, your Word invigorates me. I am grateful to You, because I know that Your hand has sustained me. Thank you Father, amen!
Day Before Yesterday's Devotional
The role of trials
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
James 1:2-3
Often, we feel scared, weakened, and even lost, without understanding the purpose of trials in life. But it's precisely in these moments that our faith must rise, leaning on the greatness of the Lord Jesus, who supports us through all trials.
Trials, among many meanings, have an educational role in the lives of Christians. They teach us to depend solely and exclusively on our Heavenly Father. They also help us see how great God is, how fragile we are, and how much we need to change. These experiences of faith point upward and to inner struggles we face in real-life situations, as in a real test of our sincerity and love for God.
Persevering through trials:
- Rejoice in God. It may seem difficult, but your joy will strengthen you in the battles.
- Overcoming trials produces perseverance. Stand firm and do not be discouraged!
- Read and internalize the Word of God, make it your daily sustenance.
- Pray, ask for Christ's help in trials. The Lord is with you always!
- Your faith will be confirmed if it is rooted in the Lord Jesus. Trust with all your heart.
Let's Pray:
Lord our God, please help me remain steadfast in the midst of life's trials . Though many challenges may be difficult, Father, let them not shake my faith and hope, but instead, strengthen them in Christ. May Your name be glorified in my life, today and always. Amen.
What is the Daily Devotional
The Daily Devotional is a special moment of your day that you dedicate to having a precious time of intimacy with God. It is very simple to establish an exciting routine of discovery and spiritual growth. You will achieve this by setting aside a moment each day to draw near to the Lord. During the Devotional, you will read a Bible verse with a meditation on the text. Then, you will meditate on the teachings and how to apply them in your life. In the end, you can pray.
How to do your Daily Devotional
Here are some tips for making the most of reading the Bible message during the Daily Devotional:
- Set aside a moment and choose a specific place: your devotional time will be more beneficial if you set aside the hustle and bustle and invest in a pleasant time alone with God.
- Read the verse or Bible passage attentively: develop a lifestyle committed to the Word of God every day and avoid distractions.
- Read the daily meditation: reflect and try to understand God's purpose for your life through the comments.
- Practical application: jot down your findings and don't forget to put into practice everything you have learned through the Bible.
- Share what you learned: try to share with people around what God has been teaching you in your moments of daily devotion as you go about your daily conversations and interactions.
Don't forget the importance of living a life fully committed to the Word of God!
