You need your spiritual family

not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

- Hebrews 10:25

No one is an island. You can't live your Christian life alone. When Jesus sent his disciples out to preach the gospel, they went in groups of at least two. We are no better than the apostles. We need our family.

In Jesus, we are all children of God. That means we are family. Only as a family, as a church, do we grow and become stronger and succeed in fulfilling Christ's mission: to reach the world with the gospel. It's not easy (we all make mistakes), but it's essential. Don't ignore your family!

To become more united with the family of Christ:

  • Get involved in a church
  • Look for people you can pray with regularly
  • Ask your pastor how you can help

Pray:

Lord Jesus, help me to love the brothers and sisters you have given me. I want to be a blessing to my spiritual family. May your love make us more united, so that more people can get to know you. Amen.

Yesterday's Devotional

Word of the Day: Find peace in all situations!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

In the passage above Paul hands us advice on what we can do in every situation to find peace. His solution is through prayer and petition. when we do this we receive the peace of God, which we are told will guard our hearts.

Later in the same passage, we see a little more of the character of Paul and how his peace is manifested:

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Philippians 4:11-13

The Apostle Paul witnessed great miracles and had great success as a preacher, but he also suffered much pain, sadness, and persecution. Paul had many ups and downs, but he learned how to have peace and contentment in all circumstances.

He trusted in Jesus. When you trust in Jesus, you can find peace even in the most difficult times!

Day Before Yesterday's Devotional

Seems like it was yesterday

The Lord shall reign forever.

Exodus 15:18

Have you ever thought about the brevity of everything in this life? Years slip away, trends shift, tastes evolve, priorities change, and the needs of each generation transform... Many pages of our history become yellowed and forgotten as time marches on. With lived experiences, we lose the reckless fervor and attain maturity in our actions. Some dreams are left behind. But many victories are also achieved!

It's common to hear the expression "seems like it was yesterday." Indeed, time passes quickly without our realizing it. We trade the youthfulness of our bodies for the marks and lessons of life. Sometimes, the transience of everything leaves us worried about the future, but our sovereign God and His Word are eternal. He knows the end from the beginning. And He cares for you! Rest in this certainty: the Lord God will reign forever!

God is eternal and reigns forever!

  • Some things come to an end in life, and it's not always easy to deal with that reality. But God is eternal! In Him, you can securely and eternally place your trust.
  • The truth, grace, and love of God do not change or run out! He is the infinite God of mercy.
  • Praise and thank the Lord, for He reigns as the eternal King of Kings. He is worthy of all worship.
  • Find refuge and encouragement in the Word of God. Read it always, and be strengthened!

Let's Pray:

My God, You are my help forever! May my soul wait in You every day! May I feel Your care daily, helping me on my journey. You, Lord, are the only one who reigns eternally! Your love and Your Word have no end. Reign gloriously over my life, my family, and over all the earth! In Jesus' name, I thank You, Amen!
