Today's Devotional
We Are Children of God!
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
- John 3:1
This passage invites us to contemplate the profound love that God has for us in calling us his children. It is a love that transcends all human understanding, a love that places us in an intimate relationship with the Creator of the universe.
Being called a child of God is not an empty title; it is an identity that transforms our lives. It means that we are loved unconditionally, regardless of our faults and imperfections. This love is a gift, a divine grace that we cannot deserve. We are accepted exactly as we are, because God's love is perfect.
However, this relationship with God often makes us strangers to the world. Our values and principles may differ from those who don't know God. We can be misunderstood, ridiculed, or may even face persecution because of our faith.
But we must not live in fear! God's love strengthens us and enables us to live according to His will, regardless of the circumstances. We must remain faithful to our calling as children of God, radiating His love and light in this world, even if the world doesn't recognize us.
The verse from 1 John 3:1 reminds us of the heavenly Father's incomparable love for us and our identity as His children. May we live a life worthy of this calling, sharing this love with everyone around us, so that others may also come to know God's transforming love.
Act like a child of God!
- Cultivate a deep intimacy with God on a daily basis, always remembering His immense love for you, to strengthen your faith and trust.
- Demonstrate God's love to others by acting with compassion, forgiveness and kindness, even when the world doesn't understand or rejects your faith.
- Maintain an eternal perspective, remembering that you are a child of God, prioritising spiritual values over worldly ones.
Pray:
Father, how good it is to feel Your presence and Your sublime love. May Your love overflow in my life, and may it flow from me into my community. Amen.
Yesterday's Devotional
Leave everything at the foot of the cross
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
1 Corinthians 1:18
For any Jew, it was madness to imagine that the most despicable and shameful kind of death, crucified on a cross, would be how the Messiah would grant salvation. Likewise, it was absurd for the Greeks, lovers of wisdom - "philosophers", to consider that something was more powerful than their knowledge.
For the Romans and many other Gentiles, nothing was more desirable than the power of wealth and possessions. So too today, many people cling to religiosity, intellectuality, or ambitions for more material goods, as their goal in life.
Many people continue to regard the message of the cross as foolishness, and so they choose to carry on clinging to human resources. But the cross is the power of God for believers! Make no mistake, no amount of human goodness, wisdom, or wealth can give you guarantees in this life or the next. There is only one way to have a meaningful life, which is through faith in Jesus Christ, in His redemptive work on the cross. Don't dismiss the power of the message of the cross!
Lay your riches at the feet of Jesus
- What is most valuable to you in this life?
- Reflect for a moment: to what causes have dedicated your strength, your time, and your life?
- Pray and give yourself completely to the Lord, without reservation.
- Don't waste time on the trivialities of life. Concentrate on what is most important.
- Leave your "crowns", personal merits, possessions and titles at the foot of the cross. Recognize that Jesus is your greatest wealth!
- Read the Bible every day. Through it you will get to know Jesus better and find your reason for being!
Pray:
Lord God, thank you for sending Jesus to give us life, through that terrible cross. Help me to have Christ as my priority and my greatest value in this life. I leave at your feet everything that wants to take your place in my heart. Forgive my attachment to the insignificant things of this life. Be my joy, sustenance and greatest wealth always. And teach me to love the message of the cross and share it wherever I am. In Jesus' name, amen!
Day Before Yesterday's Devotional
Christian, rejoice when you are persecuted!
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Matthew 5:11-12
When Jesus spoke these words, He was delivering the famous "Sermon on the Mount." In these teachings, He succinctly presented the practical principles and values of the Kingdom of God. The "beatitudes" mark the beginning of this great discourse, bringing inverted standards about the "more than happy" life that Christians can experience.
When we live out our faith in Christ truly and intentionally, the world will oppose us, trying to insult and mistreat us. The Lord teaches us to fill ourselves with joy and contentment when we are persecuted for His sake. The work of Christ is precious! It is worth enduring hardships and insults for the sake of faith... Your reward with God will be much greater!
Rejoice in persecution:
- Pray daily to God, ask for His guidance and wisdom to deal with persecution.
- Do not be discouraged in your walk with God because of the difficulties you face. The Lord is by your side in every moment and sustains you.
- Strengthen your faith through the Word of God every day.
- Rejoice, praise, and thank God for the privilege of being persecuted for the sake of Jesus Christ.
- Intercede for the persecuted Church around the world. There are thousands of Christians who are constantly at risk of life and other harm because of their faith.
- Remain faithful to the Lord! Remember the example of suffering from the disciples, apostles, and the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, who even when persecuted, in prison, under threat of affliction and death, remained faithful until the end!
- Be careful not to be persecuted for a bad testimony or for acting unwisely!
Let’s Pray:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for always being by my side, even when I am insulted, wronged, and persecuted for being a Christian. Help me endure difficulties, keeping the faith firm and a good testimony wherever I go. Teach me to rejoice in afflictions and bring to my mind that which gives me hope. Bless all the brothers and sisters who suffer persecution around the world. I ask and thank You in the name of Jesus! Amen.
What is the Daily Devotional
The Daily Devotional is a special moment of your day that you dedicate to having a precious time of intimacy with God. It is very simple to establish an exciting routine of discovery and spiritual growth. You will achieve this by setting aside a moment each day to draw near to the Lord. During the Devotional, you will read a Bible verse with a meditation on the text. Then, you will meditate on the teachings and how to apply them in your life. In the end, you can pray.
How to do your Daily Devotional
Here are some tips for making the most of reading the Bible message during the Daily Devotional:
