Today's Devotional

The justice of the Kingdom

Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

Matthew 5:42

Jesus sets a high standard for how we should behave, which can be very challenging to follow. Many times, Christ demands that His followers make very difficult decisions, such as turning the other cheek, praying for enemies, denying oneself, and so forth. During financial crises, the commandment to help those who ask for money can feel particularly burdensome. We often make mental excuses, like "They'll spend it on drugs," "They should find a job," or "I'd help if I had spare change," which can lead us to avoid helping those in need.

What Jesus asks is that our love for others surpasses our attachment to material things. If someone asks you for spare change or food, our readiness to assist should outweigh our inclination to hoard. We often clutch onto our money, but when it's for a pleasure like a treat or dining out, we spend freely without hesitation.

It shouldn't be like this! We should listen to Jesus and care for those in need, showing love and compassion to those who have less than us.

Evaluate yourself

  • Reflect: When someone asks you for something, do you respond with generosity or greed?
  • In what ways can you improve at helping others?
  • Be always prepared to help!
  • Pray to God, asking for a heart full of compassion.

Let's Pray:

Lord, my God, and my Father, I ask for forgiveness for all the times I denied help to others, for every time I turned my head in apathy and denial of good. May Your Holy Spirit empower me to always do good in all circumstances, and may He fill my heart with generosity towards everyone. Thank you, Lord Jesus Christ, for sacrificing yourself to give me the salvation I needed most. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Yesterday's Devotional

His life is priceless and the cost was paid with love

"7 No one can redeem the life of another
or give to God a ransom for them—
8 the ransom for a life is costly,
no payment is ever enough—
9 so that they should live on forever
and not see decay."

Psalm 49:7-9

Who could pay the price of a life? What value does a life have? The value of life absolutely goes beyond what we could pay, but God paid this price and rescued us from death.

Jesus gave himself up for us as a payment: life for a life. By sacrificing himself in our place, Jesus freed us from eternal damnation (Isaiah 53:5). No one else could pay that price but God himself.

God doesn't charge us for life, but wants us to recognize what He has already done. By believing in His sacrifice and accepting Jesus as our Savior, we can enjoy this endless life free of charge.

Thanks to him, we receive eternal life, and all because he loved us first!

Your life has value and the price has already been paid by Jesus!

  • Read the Bible; in it, we come to know our value to God.
  • Recognize the sacrifice Jesus made for you: thank him for it.
  • Talk about Jesus' sacrifice with your neighbors, everyone has value to him.

Pray:

Lord Jesus, thank you so much for your love and grace. You paid a price for my life that neither I nor anyone else could pay. Your sacrifice saved me, so I praise you with my life!
Thank you Jesus! Amen.

Day Before Yesterday's Devotional

Find meaning and happiness in God

"Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart."
Psalm 37:4

Timothy Keller, a North American Christian pastor, and author, said in his book "Counterfeit Gods": "If we look to created things to give us the meaning, hope, and happiness that only God himself can give, it will eventually break our hearts.."

Everything we most desire in life can only be truly achieved when we seek it in Jesus Christ. We often feel frustrated because we have placed our reason for living in people or things. But the Bible shows us that the meaning of life, true joy, and a sense of personal fulfillment can only be satisfied in God, who made us for His purpose and knows our hearts. Put your trust in Him, God can transform you into a fulfilled and happy person!

Finding meaning and satisfaction in the Lord

  • Seek God first! Looking for fulfillment in the wrong places will lead to disappointment.

  • Pray and give God your dreams and goals in life. He will give you what is best for you.

  • Trust God with all your heart. He can restore you and renew your hope.

  • Find the key to getting the answers you are looking for in the Bible. God's Word is a source of light and nourishment for your soul.

  • With Jesus, God gives you every blessing. Without him, you will never feel complete and happy.

Pray:

Lord God, thank you, because only in you can I find complete joy! So many times I have been disappointed and frustrated because I trusted in people, things or myself. Forgive me for seeking happiness in limited creatures and not in the Lord. The fleeting things of this life cannot satisfy the desires of my heart. But the Lord can do all things! Mold me and fill me with pure and true joy, in Jesus' name. Amen!

What is the Daily Devotional

The Daily Devotional is a special moment of your day that you dedicate to having a precious time of intimacy with God. It is very simple to establish an exciting routine of discovery and spiritual growth. You will achieve this by setting aside a moment each day to draw near to the Lord. During the Devotional, you will read a Bible verse with a meditation on the text. Then, you will meditate on the teachings and how to apply them in your life. In the end, you can pray.

How to do your Daily Devotional

Here are some tips for making the most of reading the Bible message during the Daily Devotional:

  1. Set aside a moment and choose a specific place: your devotional time will be more beneficial if you set aside the hustle and bustle and invest in a pleasant time alone with God.
  2. Read the verse or Bible passage attentively: develop a lifestyle committed to the Word of God every day and avoid distractions.
  3. Read the daily meditation: reflect and try to understand God's purpose for your life through the comments.
  4. Practical application: jot down your findings and don't forget to put into practice everything you have learned through the Bible.
  5. Share what you learned: try to share with people around what God has been teaching you in your moments of daily devotion as you go about your daily conversations and interactions.

Don't forget the importance of living a life fully committed to the Word of God!
