Daily Devotional
A daily devotional to strengthen your relationship with God.
Today's Devotional
With God's help, free yourself of all yokes
"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."
- John 8:36
God is interested in your total liberation. Sometimes we think that the freedom granted by God only concerns the spiritual area, but the Lord also wants you to be free in the emotional, physical and relational areas.
We often get stuck in abusive relationships, or take on compulsive behaviours (with food, drink, activities or drugs). And so we start to self-sabotage and destroy ourselves. In addition to these problems, we also tend to hold on to the past, failing to forgive others and ourselves.
If you realise that there is some kind of prison in any area of your life, pray to God and ask Him to bring about a complete liberation in you, right now...
In Christ, be truly free!
- Reflect for a few moments and look at what or who is your "oppressor".
- Pray, seek God and ask Him to set you completely free.
- Ask for Christ's help to set you free and let go of bad habits, past events and even relationships that bring you oppression.
- Learn more about Jesus. Read the Bible and develop a true friendship with God every day.
-
Pray:
Lord God, free me from everything that imprisons me! Open my eyes and my conscience to realise that I can be free in you. Help me to live the true freedom won by Jesus Christ. And may your Holy Spirit work this miracle within me. May this transformation also be projected into all areas of my life. May everything I do be for your glory. In your name, Jesus! Amen.
Yesterday's Devotional
He has always loved us!
God created us and loved us from the beginning. Before we realized who we were, we were already loved by him. God's love has no physical or spiritual barriers, he has loved us forever!
When we know that we are loved by God - and recognize the proof of love embodied in Jesus - our lives take on a new perspective. We are hit by a wave of gratitude. Then we think: what have we done to receive so much love? If we look for a reason to justify ourselves, we won't find one. God chose to love us because he is God!
We have received his love freely and we must reciprocate it in the same way. Love God unconditionally. Return God's love by loving him. This "two-way street" is called a relationship. To love and be loved, that's the relationship God wants from us.
Here's how to repay God's love:
- Loving God (1 Chronicles 16:34 and Deuteronomy 6:5)
- Loving our neighbor (Matthew 22:36-40 and 1 John 4:19-21)
- Obeying His Word (John 14:15 & John 14:21)
- Sharing this love (Matthew 28:19-20 & Mark 16:15)
- Try loving God in all these ways, abide in His love! He loves you and wants to be by your side at all times.
Pray:
Lord, how good it is to be loved by you! Your grace has reached me and I can only thank you for this sublime love. Thank you Father, amen!
Day Before Yesterday's Devotional
How can you tell?
"In the Lord I take refuge.
How then can you say to me:
“Flee like a bird to your mountain."?"Psalm 11:1
When the psalmist puts all his trust in God, he is sure that none of his enemies can get away with anything. David, the author of the psalm, doesn't think he's simply unbeatable, just as we shouldn't think that of ourselves, because every day we bear our own evil. But he is writing about God's justice, for he loves the righteous and hates the wicked.
Even if we suffer a lot in our lives, from terrible people, and we feel hurt, we can rest in God. This is because he is the righteous judge of all reality. His throne is in heaven and from there he sees everything that has ever happened.
If someone has stolen from you, humiliated you, cursed you or harmed you in any way, if they don't repent, God will bring them to judgement. And we face the same judgement, unless we repent of our sins and believe in Christ Jesus.
Practise justice!
- Read the whole of Psalm 11
- Reflect on and think about yourself, woul you describe yourself as righteous or wicked?
- Pray and trust God that He will bring you justice
Pray:
Lord God, my Father, and Jesus Christ my saviour, I ask you to protect me and keep me from all evil. When the wicked threaten me and terrorise my peace, may I be protected under their wings, safe from evil attacks. May I and my enemies repent of our sins, and be eternally at your side, Lord, for in Christ the sins of all mankind have been paid for. In Jesus' name, amen.
What is the Daily Devotional
The Daily Devotional is a special moment of your day that you dedicate to having a precious time of intimacy with God. It is very simple to establish an exciting routine of discovery and spiritual growth. You will achieve this by setting aside a moment each day to draw near to the Lord. During the Devotional, you will read a Bible verse with a meditation on the text. Then, you will meditate on the teachings and how to apply them in your life. In the end, you can pray.
How to do your Daily Devotional
Here are some tips for making the most of reading the Bible message during the Daily Devotional:
- Set aside a moment and choose a specific place: your devotional time will be more beneficial if you set aside the hustle and bustle and invest in a pleasant time alone with God.
- Read the verse or Bible passage attentively: develop a lifestyle committed to the Word of God every day and avoid distractions.
- Read the daily meditation: reflect and try to understand God's purpose for your life through the comments.
- Practical application: jot down your findings and don't forget to put into practice everything you have learned through the Bible.
- Share what you learned: try to share with people around what God has been teaching you in your moments of daily devotion as you go about your daily conversations and interactions.
Don't forget the importance of living a life fully committed to the Word of God!
