God will provide!

7 Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, “Father?”

“Yes, my son?” Abraham replied.

“The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”

8 Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together.

Genesis 22:7-8

These verses tell of a time of great trial that Abraham went through with his son Isaac. It's a well-known story in which God tests Abraham's faith by asking him to sacrifice his beloved son. It was certainly an unparalleled test, but it was only a test because, of course, God didn't want the boy to die.

Abraham proved that he had faith and obeyed the Lord in everything. He knew that God, who had given him the promised son, was faithful and would, if necessary, resurrect the boy or provide the lamb for the sacrifice.

And so it happened! This story is the one place in the bible where the name for God is 'Jehovah Jireh' (Verse 14) ''The Lord my Provider! And in your life too, He will provide!

Like this story, sometimes our faith is tested. And even if we don't understand the circumstances, we need to trust in the Lord, because through the struggles we face, we learn to depend on Him more. Employment, health care, material resources, what to wear, etc. are all important needs, but seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:31-33). Place your faith completely in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, because He will supply all your needs, in Christ, for His glory!

By faith, God will provide!

  • Trust God completely! He is faithful and fulfills His Word.
  • Pray and place your whole life in the Lord's care.
  • God will provide what you need. This is not always compatible with what you want Him to do.
  • Rest in God's provision, but work and take advantage of the opportunities he places in front of you.
  • Seek constant guidance in God's Word. He provides the wisdom you need to make the right decisions.

Pray:

Lord God, I want to thank you because you, Lord, have taken care of me. Even with difficulties, I believe that you are in control of my life. Provide what I really need, not what I want. Help my family, your church, my brothers and sisters in Christ and my friends in their daily needs. Bless our country and provide for the needs of our people, Lord! Give me wisdom to manage well the resources you give me. Open doors, Father, and do Your will in me. In Jesus' name! Amen.

Renewing our minds through Christ

A Living Sacrifice

12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Humble Service in the Body of Christ

3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.

Romans 12:1-3

Life is full of changes. In childhood, we have tastes that change as we enter adolescence. As adults, we no longer have the same perceptions as when we were young. We grow up and our minds change.

When we are born again (2 Corinthians 5:17), we die to the world and our worldly mind is also buried. We see beyond what our eyes can see, we see with the eyes of the spirit. We no longer cling to the desires of the world, but seek the things above (Colossians 3:2).

Transforming the mind is also part of being "born again". This transformation is daily and continuous, moving away from old habits and things that limit our mind. When we live God's Word, our mind is enlarged and we experience the real meaning of life, God's love.

Renewing the mind through Christ

  • Becoming a new creation is an active process. Give up old habits and everything that distances you from God.
  • The Bible is a manual for the renewal of our minds. Read it daily.
  • Seek the company of those who are also seeking to renew their minds. Grow in communion.

Pray:

Lord God, I no longer have the same mind I had before. You teach me more every day. Help me to transform my mind, I want to think more about the things above, and I want to help more minds to be transformed by you. Amen.

Day Before Yesterday's Devotional

Sow the seed of faith!

1 Ship your grain across the sea;
after many days you may receive a return.

~

6 Sow your seed in the morning,
and at evening let your hands not be idle,
for you do not know which will succeed,
whether this or that,
or whether both will do equally well.

Ecclesiastes 11:1 & 6

There's an old saying: "You reap what you sow"... The truth is that sowing seeds is not an easy process. You need good seeds, prepared soil, enough water, a willingness to work, and confidence that the harvest will come in abundance.

Perhaps you, like most people, don't experience the day-to-day workings of the fields up close. Even so, we can imagine that for an ordinary farmer, burying part of his livelihood in the hope that it will multiply later is a big step of faith! The farmer makes sure that all the effort he puts into preparing, planting and watering the crop can increase his earnings and bring benefits to others too. But remember that, despite all his efforts, it is God who brings life and growth.

This is also the case in our lives: we have many goals and objectives, but to achieve them we need to sow them through God. We prepare the ground and sow the seeds by faith, confident that our goals will come true. But this will only happen if they are in accordance with the Lord's will. Our trust must be in God, who makes all things possible.

Live by faith!

  • Dream, plan, strive, but surrender everything by faith to the One who gives life and growth.
  • Read Ecclesiastes 11. Casting bread upon the waters may refer to the practice of casting seeds over flooded areas or marketing seeds by boat. The fact is, we need to invest (time, work, resources, faith!) in our projects. Dedicate yourself and sow by faith, trusting in the Lord who always sustains you.
  • Don't sit back and wait for achievements to come from heaven. God will give you the strength, wisdom and courage to work diligently, as if for the Lord. Sow for God's glory.
  • Don't trust that your own effort and talent will bring you benefits. Without God we can do nothing.
  • Have a thankful heart. Be grateful for the daily provision that God gives to those who believe in His Word.
  • Today's verses also apply to the Gospel. Share the living Bread that came down from heaven. Many hungry people around you need to receive it. Work without discouragement, there will be good results in time, by faith!

Pray:

Lord God, you are the sustainer of my life! I know that everything comes from you. Thank you that I can trust you to provide much more than we ask for, or think we need. Help me to sow with faith in the Lord, who gives a bountiful harvest in His own time. May Your provision be upon the lives of all who trust in You. In Jesus' name, amen.

What is the Daily Devotional

The Daily Devotional is a special moment of your day that you dedicate to having a precious time of intimacy with God. It is very simple to establish an exciting routine of discovery and spiritual growth. You will achieve this by setting aside a moment each day to draw near to the Lord. During the Devotional, you will read a Bible verse with a meditation on the text. Then, you will meditate on the teachings and how to apply them in your life. In the end, you can pray.

How to do your Daily Devotional

Here are some tips for making the most of reading the Bible message during the Daily Devotional:

  1. Set aside a moment and choose a specific place: your devotional time will be more beneficial if you set aside the hustle and bustle and invest in a pleasant time alone with God.
  2. Read the verse or Bible passage attentively: develop a lifestyle committed to the Word of God every day and avoid distractions.
  3. Read the daily meditation: reflect and try to understand God's purpose for your life through the comments.
  4. Practical application: jot down your findings and don't forget to put into practice everything you have learned through the Bible.
  5. Share what you learned: try to share with people around what God has been teaching you in your moments of daily devotion as you go about your daily conversations and interactions.

Don't forget the importance of living a life fully committed to the Word of God!
