Daily Devotional
A daily devotional to strengthen your relationship with God.
Today's Devotional
In Your Relationships: Be Kind and Harmonious
Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
- Philippians 4:5
Harmony, gentleness, and kindness are values that must be nurtured these days. Unfortunately there often seems to be a shortage of kind, considerate, and moderate people at home, in the neighborhood, in traffic, at school, at work, in public offices, on social networks, and, even in churches.
Hate speech has been on the rise for some time in the media, but also can be found in relationships, and the day-to-day interactions with many people. The Bible shows us the opposite, moderation generated by Love, is the best response to a hostile and unbalanced world. Consider the example of Christ and learn from Him, the one who is meek and humble of heart (Matthew 11:29).
God's love makes us kinder and gentler
- Reflect: even your strongest convictions must be balanced by God's love.
- Let God's Spirit bear His fruit in you. Read Galatians 5:19-23
- God is close to you when you talk, write, work, study, drive, in short, wherever you are!
- Moderation is seen in our thinking and speaking, in our relationships, in the way we dress, and even in the way we eat.
- Try to be more like Christ in all your daily attitudes.
Pray:
Lord, help me to be more like Jesus Christ. I want to be a source of harmony, meekness, and humility. Teach me to live showing your love in everything I do. May my attitudes show that you are my God. May I not imitate the world, may I not shame or sadden you, Father. Be with me and help me every day. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
Yesterday's Devotional
Look to Jesus
As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till he shows us his mercy.
Psalm 123:2
When your life is falling apart, it's not wise to put your trust in fleeting and risky things that may disappoint. The resources of this life, whether people, opportunities, or money, may provide some help, but they are not entirely reliable, nor will they solve your problems. In fact, if God is not your helper, you will likely be conditioned by what your eyes see. Looking at life's circumstances can instill fear, doubt, or despair in you.
You need to focus on the right person, Jesus!
"fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
Hebrews 12:2
Only when your eyes are on Him will your life make sense, and you will walk in the right direction.
Look to Jesus today!
- Pray and present your needs to the Lord. He is present and helps you.
- It may seem like He isn't, but God is in control of everything. Keep your focus on the Lord and wait for His favor.
- Read, meditate, and study the Bible diligently. Through it, you will see God more clearly.
- The two verses today speak of a God we can trust. Also, read Psalm 121. Reflect and write down what you understand from these readings.
- Looking to God means focusing, paying attention, trusting, and having a keen vision for Him. Take your walk with Christ seriously.
- Do not rely on what your eyes are showing you unless they are fixed on God.
Let's Pray:
Lord my God, open the eyes of my heart so that I may see Your work in my life! Teach me to look to You with confidence, faith, and love. Help me not to despair with circumstances or trust in the wrong things. I believe that my help comes from the Lord. May Your mercies be renewed upon us this day. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
Day Before Yesterday's Devotional
With God's help, free yourself of all yokes
"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."
- John 8:36
God is interested in your total liberation. Sometimes we think that the freedom granted by God only concerns the spiritual area, but the Lord also wants you to be free in the emotional, physical and relational areas.
We often get stuck in abusive relationships, or take on compulsive behaviours (with food, drink, activities or drugs). And so we start to self-sabotage and destroy ourselves. In addition to these problems, we also tend to hold on to the past, failing to forgive others and ourselves.
If you realise that there is some kind of prison in any area of your life, pray to God and ask Him to bring about a complete liberation in you, right now...
In Christ, be truly free!
- Reflect for a few moments and look at what or who is your "oppressor".
- Pray, seek God and ask Him to set you completely free.
- Ask for Christ's help to set you free and let go of bad habits, past events and even relationships that bring you oppression.
- Learn more about Jesus. Read the Bible and develop a true friendship with God every day.
-
Pray:
Lord God, free me from everything that imprisons me! Open my eyes and my conscience to realise that I can be free in you. Help me to live the true freedom won by Jesus Christ. And may your Holy Spirit work this miracle within me. May this transformation also be projected into all areas of my life. May everything I do be for your glory. In your name, Jesus! Amen.
What is the Daily Devotional
The Daily Devotional is a special moment of your day that you dedicate to having a precious time of intimacy with God. It is very simple to establish an exciting routine of discovery and spiritual growth. You will achieve this by setting aside a moment each day to draw near to the Lord. During the Devotional, you will read a Bible verse with a meditation on the text. Then, you will meditate on the teachings and how to apply them in your life. In the end, you can pray.
How to do your Daily Devotional
Here are some tips for making the most of reading the Bible message during the Daily Devotional:
- Set aside a moment and choose a specific place: your devotional time will be more beneficial if you set aside the hustle and bustle and invest in a pleasant time alone with God.
- Read the verse or Bible passage attentively: develop a lifestyle committed to the Word of God every day and avoid distractions.
- Read the daily meditation: reflect and try to understand God's purpose for your life through the comments.
- Practical application: jot down your findings and don't forget to put into practice everything you have learned through the Bible.
- Share what you learned: try to share with people around what God has been teaching you in your moments of daily devotion as you go about your daily conversations and interactions.
Don't forget the importance of living a life fully committed to the Word of God!
