Today's Devotional
Soothing the soul
Return to your rest, my soul,
for the Lord has been good to you!
Psalm 116:7
One standout quality of David was his unwavering submission to God. The "warrior king" went through various struggles and persecutions and never hesitated to pour out his heart to God. In every moment of prayer, David truly laid his heart before God.
The king taught us how to behave in distress. In this psalm, David affirms to himself the deeds of the Lord; thus, as the king recognized God's favor, he calmed his soul, gaining confidence in God. When faced with uncertainty, David turned his thoughts to the deeds of the Lord.
Recognizing the power of God is the best remedy against anxiety. Remembering what the Lord has already done points us to what God can do again! Trust in the Lord; calm your soul, for He has been good to you.
Soothing the soul
- Reflect on the blessings and deeds of the Lord in your life. If He has done great things before, imagine what He can do now!
- Thank God for what He has already done for you. Take a moment for thanksgiving. A grateful heart to God is light and open to receiving even more blessings.
- Read the Bible and see how much God loves us. Meditate on His word and feed on the word that is effective.
Let's Pray:
Lord God, You are mighty, and nothing and no one can hinder You! You have already accomplished great things in my life, and for that, I am grateful to You. My trust is in You, thus my soul finds peace in Your mighty strength. Amen.

Have courage! The Lord will be with you wherever you go
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9
When Joshua received these words from God, he had a great responsibility on his shoulders: to succeed Moses and lead the Israelite people to Canaan. This word certainly frightened Joshua, but God himself took it upon himself to lead him.
If we have great responsibilities in our hands, it is because God has entrusted us with this mission and knows that we are capable of managing them. Don't underestimate your potential in God. If there is a great challenge, it is because God has already provided a great blessing at the end of the tribulation.
The key to facing great challenges is to stay close to the Father. He can enable us and guide us through challenges, however simple or tough. The Lord will be with us wherever we go! So try to stay close to him and don't be afraid!
Take heart!
- God empowers the chosen, don't be afraid. If God has called you, it is because He will enable you throughout the challenge.
- The Word of God is our refuge and strength! Use the Bible as your daily bread.
- Don't be afraid, God is our friend. Through the Son we have access to the Father, pray, open your heart.
Pray:
Lord God, thank you so much for the challenges. I know that they help me to grow closer to you. Pour out your Spirit on me and strengthen me. I won't go back on your promises. I move forward, in Jesus' name! Amen.
Day Before Yesterday's Devotional
Freedom vs. Libertarianism
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
Galatians 5:13
When we accept Christ, we free ourselves from the oppressive shackles of sin. There's nothing better than feeling free and recognizing the price that was paid for our freedom: the blood of Jesus. Our freedom is the fruit of God's love for us!
To stay free, you need to remember the price of Salvation and be aware of the Devil's traps. Even Jesus was tempted by Satan to use his freedom to disobey the Father. Our freedom must bring us closer to God, not push us away as happened with the Devil.
Remaining obedient to God's Word is the secret to staying free from sin. Freedom is not about "walking wherever you want" but knowing that there are places where we can lose our freedom. One of the Devil's main traps is to induce our freedom into libertinism.
Libertinism is the misuse of freedom. When we extrapolate our freedom, we give way to the desires of the flesh. The result of this lack of self-control is falling into sin. When our actions lead us away from God, it is a sign that we have already lost our freedom and are falling into the trap of debauchery.
So always keep God's word as your "GPS" and use your freedom to dedicate yourself even more to God!
Be free!
- Use your freedom to seek God. Praise him, worship him!
- Our freedom came at a high price. Read the Gospel and learn more about Jesus.
- Use your freedom to set other people free. Proclaim the Good News of the Lord, share the Word that sets man free from sin.
- Read God's Word and be aware of the pitfalls of licentiousness.
Pray:
Lord Jesus, how good it is to be free to worship you! Thank you so much for everything you've done for me, your blood has reached me. I want to remain free to praise You and proclaim Your Word that sets me free. In Jesus' name, amen!
What is the Daily Devotional
The Daily Devotional is a special moment of your day that you dedicate to having a precious time of intimacy with God. It is very simple to establish an exciting routine of discovery and spiritual growth. You will achieve this by setting aside a moment each day to draw near to the Lord. During the Devotional, you will read a Bible verse with a meditation on the text. Then, you will meditate on the teachings and how to apply them in your life. In the end, you can pray.
How to do your Daily Devotional
Here are some tips for making the most of reading the Bible message during the Daily Devotional:
