A daily devotional to strengthen your relationship with God.
Today's Devotional
A call on those who make a difference!
" 17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;
despite all its great strength it cannot save.
18 But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,
19 to deliver them from death
and keep them alive in famine."
Psalm 33:17-19
There are times when we seem to be drifting, everything seems to be heading for failure. No matter how hard we try, things aren't going well. It's at these times that we should stop looking for "earthly solutions" and turn our eyes upwards!
Are we putting God into our struggles, or do we only call on him when we've exhausted all our alternatives to try to solve our problems? Even with dedication and willpower, our victory comes from God! We may have strength, talent - even financial means - but without God, there is no chance of salvation.
God is faithful to protect us, even in times of scarcity. Trust in him, because the Lord protects those who fear him!
Call on those who make a difference!
- Seek God's presence, and ask for his direction.
- Having good conditions is not a sign that we are doing well. Seek God even more!
- If things aren't going well, cry out to Him! God is ready to hear your voice and wants to do great things in your life. Don't put it off.
Pray:
Lord, take care of me! Without you, everything I do is unsafe. My strength is limited and only your presence can make a difference in my life. Guide me with Your mighty hand. In Jesus' name, amen!
Yesterday's Devotional
Release the shackles of those who have bound you...
31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Ephesians 4:31-32
Are you imprisoned? You may not be literally behind bars, but perhaps you feel emotionally or spiritually trapped. Today's passage begins with a warning that we should rid ourselves of negative feelings, bad attitudes, and all evil. Next, we are instructed to be kind and merciful to one another, releasing forgiveness to others just as God has graciously forgiven us in Christ.
Forgiveness serves not only to free us from resentment and hurt towards those who have wronged us, but it also frees those who have imprisoned us. It's like a double-edged sword: on the one hand, it releases us from bitterness and vengeful mindsets, and on the other, in love, it erases the offense of the person who hurt us, loosening their shackles. Be generous with forgiveness and you will no longer feel pain or sorrow for the harm the other person has caused you.
Choose to forgive today!
- Understand that all people need forgiveness. Jesus Christ forgives us because we are flawed.
- Choose to forgive, even if your emotions tell you otherwise. Forgiveness is a decision, not a feeling.
- Pray to God, naming the people you want to forgive.
- Get rid of resentment! Don't reproach the person for what they've done, or try to get revenge, just forgive.
- Seek strength and encouragement in God's Word.
- Give those who have mistreated you into the Lord's hands. Those who have hurt you also need to be forgiven by God.
Pray:
Lord God, I want to be free of feelings of bitterness and bad attitudes towards those who have hurt me. Help me not to be in conflict with others and to abandon hurt, resentment and revenge. Forgive me for the times I have failed, making you and other people sad. Teach me to forgive and let go of those who have hurt me, just as you have forgiven me in Christ. Amen!
Day Before Yesterday's Devotional
The poor can't repay you, but God will!
"35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."
- Matthew 25:35-36
Caring for the needy is a direct expression of love for the Lord. This biblical passage helps us to understand that when we help people who are excluded and in need, we are doing it for God himself. Like any human being, the needy have a dignity that comes from the heavenly Father.
Christ identifies with the most vulnerable. And we can all serve Christ better when we do this for our brothers and sisters. Practical beneficence, sincere charity and noble love for the most needy are clear evidence of devotion, love and service to the Lord. Therefore, we need to love them and help them, as if we were taking care of the Lord himself.
Help those in need!
- Pray and ask God for a kind and willing heart.
- Help according to your means, with liberality and wisdom. With God, little becomes much. Read on: Matthew 25:31-42
- Take every opportunity life gives you to reach out to others, knowing that God sees and will reward you.
- But don't focus only on the reward. Let your good deeds not be selfish, nor as a form of investment before God. Help out of love and empathy, for the glory of God and the blessing of others.
- To be a servant of humanity is to be a servant of Christ. Be aware of the needs around you.
Pray:
Lord, my God, great and faithful is your Love! You are the solution to the needs of this world, which is so lacking in you. Use me and help me to help those who need it most. May my eyes be attentive, my hands be open and my heart be ready to love and serve others, just as I receive your great love! In the name of Christ, I pray and ask you for these things. Amen!
What is the Daily Devotional
The Daily Devotional is a special moment of your day that you dedicate to having a precious time of intimacy with God. It is very simple to establish an exciting routine of discovery and spiritual growth. You will achieve this by setting aside a moment each day to draw near to the Lord. During the Devotional, you will read a Bible verse with a meditation on the text. Then, you will meditate on the teachings and how to apply them in your life. In the end, you can pray.
How to do your Daily Devotional
Here are some tips for making the most of reading the Bible message during the Daily Devotional:
