Today's Devotional

In Your Relationships: Be Kind and Harmonious

Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
- Philippians 4:5

Harmony, gentleness, and kindness are values that must be nurtured these days. Unfortunately there often seems to be a shortage of kind, considerate, and moderate people at home, in the neighborhood, in traffic, at school, at work, in public offices, on social networks, and, even in churches.

Hate speech has been on the rise for some time in the media, but also can be found in relationships, and the day-to-day interactions with many people. The Bible shows us the opposite, moderation generated by Love, is the best response to a hostile and unbalanced world. Consider the example of Christ and learn from Him, the one who is meek and humble of heart (Matthew 11:29).

God's love makes us kinder and gentler

  • Reflect: even your strongest convictions must be balanced by God's love.
  • Let God's Spirit bear His fruit in you. Read Galatians 5:19-23
  • God is close to you when you talk, write, work, study, drive, in short, wherever you are!
  • Moderation is seen in our thinking and speaking, in our relationships, in the way we dress, and even in the way we eat.
  • Try to be more like Christ in all your daily attitudes.

Pray:

Lord, help me to be more like Jesus Christ. I want to be a source of harmony, meekness, and humility. Teach me to live showing your love in everything I do. May my attitudes show that you are my God. May I not imitate the world, may I not shame or sadden you, Father. Be with me and help me every day. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.

Yesterday's Devotional

Giving is better than receiving

"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
Acts 20:35

The Christian life is nourished by generosity, grace and love. This is a different logic to what we are used to seeing in the world, where greedy ambition dictates the rules in relationships, leaving many blinded by power, wealth and the desire to gain advantages. But in the Bible, we understand that:

  • it is by LOSING (the fleeting things of life) that we GAIN Christ (eternity with God) - Luke 17:33.
  • we must LOVE our enemies and PRAY for those who mistreat us - Matthew 5:44.
  • we need to FORGIVE those who repeatedly wrong us - Matthew 18:22.
  • it is better to GIVE than to RECEIVE - Acts 20:35

It is More Blessed to Give Than to Receive!

Christians are invited to exercise this lifestyle: to be more like Christ. He graciously gave everything for us! Go against the grain of the world, do as He did, and give yourself by showing love, forgiveness, humility and generosity. Following in his footsteps, give and invest in others.
Remember: in the Kingdom of God, we have already received the most precious GOOD in Christ. And the more we give of what He gives us, the more we receive back. The Lord rewards the generous (Proverbs 19:17).

Pray:

Lord, help me to be unreservedly generous, always investing in your Kingdom. Just as you have given us everything, teach me to give with love and liberality to those in need. May you increase and I decrease, Father. Transform my character and awaken in me a greater desire to give than to receive. In Jesus' name, amen!

Day Before Yesterday's Devotional

He has always loved us!

God created us and loved us from the beginning. Before we realized who we were, we were already loved by him. God's love has no physical or spiritual barriers, he has loved us forever!

When we know that we are loved by God - and recognize the proof of love embodied in Jesus - our lives take on a new perspective. We are hit by a wave of gratitude. Then we think: what have we done to receive so much love? If we look for a reason to justify ourselves, we won't find one. God chose to love us because he is God!

We have received his love freely and we must reciprocate it in the same way. Love God unconditionally. Return God's love by loving him. This "two-way street" is called a relationship. To love and be loved, that's the relationship God wants from us.

Here's how to repay God's love:

  • Loving God (1 Chronicles 16:34 and Deuteronomy 6:5)
  • Loving our neighbor (Matthew 22:36-40 and 1 John 4:19-21)
  • Obeying His Word (John 14:15 & John 14:21)
  • Sharing this love (Matthew 28:19-20 & Mark 16:15)
  • Try loving God in all these ways, abide in His love! He loves you and wants to be by your side at all times.

Pray:

Lord, how good it is to be loved by you! Your grace has reached me and I can only thank you for this sublime love. Thank you Father, amen!

What is the Daily Devotional

The Daily Devotional is a special moment of your day that you dedicate to having a precious time of intimacy with God. It is very simple to establish an exciting routine of discovery and spiritual growth. You will achieve this by setting aside a moment each day to draw near to the Lord. During the Devotional, you will read a Bible verse with a meditation on the text. Then, you will meditate on the teachings and how to apply them in your life. In the end, you can pray.

How to do your Daily Devotional

Here are some tips for making the most of reading the Bible message during the Daily Devotional:

  1. Set aside a moment and choose a specific place: your devotional time will be more beneficial if you set aside the hustle and bustle and invest in a pleasant time alone with God.
  2. Read the verse or Bible passage attentively: develop a lifestyle committed to the Word of God every day and avoid distractions.
  3. Read the daily meditation: reflect and try to understand God's purpose for your life through the comments.
  4. Practical application: jot down your findings and don't forget to put into practice everything you have learned through the Bible.
  5. Share what you learned: try to share with people around what God has been teaching you in your moments of daily devotion as you go about your daily conversations and interactions.

Don't forget the importance of living a life fully committed to the Word of God!
